Hair Survival Tips: From Winter to Spring

ShareTweet

With spring right around the corner, you’ve been battling with the frigid wintry conditions for far too long. Taking care of your hair at any point can be tough, but knowing how to do it in winter is imperative to keeping up appearances. With this season tending to be hectic, and with temperatures changing quickly, it can seem an unlikely task to keep your hair looking fashionable. But keep reading for a few top tips.

Be Prepared
Like many things in life, solid foundations ensure the least possible chance of problems – so, get ready. Ahead of the cooler season, start something like a John Frieda treatment once a week so that you can begin winter as you mean to go on. Having healthy hair to begin with gives you the best chance of keeping it this way throughout winter.

Protect Hair Outside
With your home being the opposite of outdoors at this time of year, you have to be careful not to let your hair get attacked by the harsh elements. So, when you step outside consider how it could be problematic to your hair and take scarves, beanies and hats to keep your locks under wraps.

Have the Right Products
While it’s easy to say how you should take care of your tresses, this is something that cannot be done without having the right shampoo, deep infusion or styling spray for what you are trying to achieve. By stocking up John Frieda Full Repair you will be ready to have smooth, shiny hair that is full of body throughout the winter months.

Don’t Wash Too Often
Natural hair is full of the nutrients and moisture that is needed to protect itself from the harsh winter cold, wind and rain. With this in mind, only wash your hair every other day – or two to three days if your hair is prone to getting greasy.

Deep Condition Often
While you shouldn’t wash each day, you should always treat tresses with care and love so be sure to condition it every day. A light conditioner or rich moisturizer should be used on either oily or dry hair respectively. Additionally, be sure to use a deep conditioning at least once a week for 10 minutes at a time to keep your hair in great shape.

Use Cooler Water
Our hair doesn’t enjoy the sun or cold because of the way that it destroys the nutrients, and that goes for when we’re in the shower as well as outside. So, when you are washing your hair, make sure that you do your bit to avoid hot water and make sure that it is lukewarm at best because this can quickly damage hair.

Life is so hectic that looking after your hair can seem impossible. It certainly is an unenviable task for anyone, but with a little tender loving care you can have keep having luscious hair in winter and keep it in top shape.
