Not only is Las Vegas interior designer Lisa Escobar a talented, vivacious, fresh-faced designer, but she was a strong competitor in HGTV’s Fresh Faces of Design. As a featured interior designer in the “Big City Digs” category, Escobar is helping to put Las Vegas on the home design map, proving that in Sin City, we DO have chic style.
While Escobar has lived in Vegas for 30 years, she’s only worked as a professional, self-taught designer for three years, but her taste is definitely that of an experienced veteran. An obvious fashionista with a great sense of style, Escobar’s passion is fueled by helping others express their own personal style by decorating your interior spaces.
“I love getting into someone’s head and finding out what makes them tick,” says the gifted designer. “I like over-delivering and getting personal. I like to get a client to the point where she says, ‘Oh, my god. I get to live here every day?'”
Escobar may be new to interior design, but she’s not new to creating luxurious experiences. For years she worked in the nightlife industry, working with top entrepreneurs to cultivate VIP moments and learning about the importance of visual design. “If I get to create a space that helps someone be who they are, that’s really special to me,” she explains.
I had the pleasure of meeting with Escobar at Encore Upholstery & Design, where I also got to meet the store’s mascot Tinkerbell. The designer is a huge fan of the business, having over 20 custom-made pieces created at the company. She says what she loves about Encore is the team’s eagerness to tell her how to better improve her ideas, concepts, and designs. “Collaboration is magical,” gushes Escobar. “So many people touch my designs. That’s what makes it magical and fun.”
Escobar’s HGTV contest entry was a high rise condominium at Mandarin Oriental, in which her client insisted that she remain faithful to the Asian theme of the edifice. Obviously, she did just that, but without being kitschy and comical. Escobar’s design is sleek, chic, and citified, with traces of fun and whimsy.
