Vegas Style: The Shops at Summerlin

As Las Vegas bounces back from a really bad recession, our retail scene begins to grow. And right now, my town is buzzing about the newest retail center to open this year in the suburb of Summerlin: The Shops at Summerlin. Top style-centric brands such as Michael Kors, True Religion, Sephora and Victoria’s Secret, are among a growing roster of tenants at the center. Other popular tenants include American Eagle, The Art of Shaving, Bath & Body Works, Buckle, Clark’s, Everything But Water,  Old Navy, Sur La Table, Teavana and Ulta.

A master-planned community, Summerlin is located in the far west and northwest regions of Las Vegas. It’s suburbia at its best, neat and clean and near the mountains. It’s the kind of place I enjoy driving to for great shopping and eating, but not the kind of area where I want to live. It’s too far from the Strip and the drivers there are the worst (I think it’s because a lot of them are from California). However, I do love my doses of Summerlin now and then, especially the retail rehab!

Expected to open late this year, The Shops at Summerlin will be located east of the 215 Beltway, between Sahara and Charleston Avenues. It’s part of a planned urban center to be known as Downtown Summerlin, which will serve the entire Las Vegas Valley. When complete, it will not only include retail, but also entertainment, office space, a hotel, and a multi-family residential, designed to create a vibrant, walkable urban core within the community.
