February is a month of romantic hoodoo, with Valentine’s Day, Leap Day, and the dates 2/20/2020 and 2/22/20 all taking place in one magical month. So what are devoted couples to do during such an exciting time? They jump on a plane, fly to Vegas, and get hitched, of course! My neon home is making it easy by opening a temporary marriage license office at McCarran International Airport to help couples coming to Las Vegas obtain marriage licenses faster and simpler during what is expected to be an exceptionally busy month.
“Las Vegas is a great place to get married,” says County Clerk Lynn Goya. “We anticipate that 2020 will be a very busy year for weddings as couples take advantage of the year 2020. This pop-up office will make it even easier for couples to get their marriage license and allow them to have more time to spend having fun.”
The temporary office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from February 13-29, 2020. Couples flying return on Southwest Airlines who purchase their marriage license from the Pop-Up Marriage License Office will enjoy special perks from the airline on their return flight as newlyweds–from priority boarding to in-flight announcements to even a custom “Married in Vegas” champagne bottle–the airline is pulling out all the stops to surprise couples.
Adding to the excitement, the airport Pop-Up Marriage License Office will have a special life-sized cutout of Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner, giving couples the chance to celebrate their own occasion with a photo that includes the famous duo who were secretly married in Las Vegas back in May 2019.
Additional Las Vegas businesses have come together to celebrate newlywed couples. They just need to show their marriage license or marriage certificate showcasing their February 2020 wedding to redeem.
- Diamond jeweler Sky Diamonds in Town Square Las Vegas is offering all couples a complimentary ring cleaning with one lucky couple winning a $500 gift certificate towards jewelry at the store.
- Airport gym ZEROlevel Fitness + Wellness is offering newlyweds two-day passes for the price of one ($25 value).
- Luggage storage facility Bags2Go is offering storage of two bags for the price of one ($8 value) for those with some extra time on their hands and not looking to trek Sin City with bags in tow.
Both the Terminal 1 Pop-Up Marriage License Bureau and the main bureau in Downtown Las Vegas will also have a custom “Married in Vegas Feb. 2020” SnapChat filter. All couples getting married in Clark County in February 2020 will also get to take home a souvenir “Married in Vegas Feb. 2020” keepsake and auto decal to celebrate their marriage during this popular month and year.
Here’s a great tip: couples coming to Las Vegas to get married are encouraged to fill out a marriage license pre-application, which can be found through the County website at www.ClarkCountyNV.gov. (Select “Get a Marriage License” under “Popular Services” on the left side of the page.) After completing the application online, the couple will be issued a reference number that they should bring with them to the Marriage License Bureau, or the temporary pop-up office at the airport. Anyone seeking a marriage license needs to show proper identification, such as a driver’s license or passport. Marriage licenses cost $77, so add that to your budget.
