Opportunity Village’s acclaimed thrift store is now reopened with a restructured space that features new departments, showcased display areas, and a fresh, enhanced shopping experience.
“The Opportunity Village Thrift Store is not just a thrift store, but also serves as a retail training center for people with intellectual disabilities to learn all aspects of retail,” says Sue Kurland, General Manager. “We decided to update the store to make it more beautiful for the community that supports us by shopping here, and for our clients to feel proud when they come to work every day!”
With over 3,800-square feet of retail space offering clothing and personal care products to furniture, household items, electronics and more, the redesigned store now features a Kids Corner, an Online Store showcasing items currently featured on Ebay and other online shopping sites, and a Study Room where customers can hang out and relax. The store also features new fashion displays in the front windows, as well as furniture items styled together as a complete set so customers can envision how pieces could look in their home.
Employing nearly 30 people with intellectual disabilities, the Opportunity Village Thrift Store accepts donations from the community, as well as local businesses and organizations. Visit the store and see its new look for yourself at 390 South Decatur Boulevard.
