This summer will mark 17 years that I have lived in Las Vegas. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I may be a proud Texas-born woman, but I have grown loyal to Las Vegas. As such, I tend to fall in love with Las Vegas artwork, products, and anything that allows me to display my adoration for my home. That’s why when I heard about a locally-grown brand of Las Vegas T-shirts and apparel items that encapsulates our local city spirit, I just had to write about it.
Local businesswoman Krystal Rosenthal was born and raised in Las Vegas. She created Local-ty LV as a way for residents to show off their hometown pride.
“Because Las Vegas is such a tourist destination, a lot of the apparel sold on or around the Strip emphasizes the more tourist-y or cliché aspects of Vegas,” explains Rosenthal. “Things like the flashing lights, dice, and poker chips don’t really express the true uniqueness of our home. I wanted something locals could wear to represent Vegas the way locals see it.”
As the pride of living Las Vegas has grown, so, too, has the community’s desire to give back. Rosenthal knows this, and since the tragedy of 1 October, a portion of proceeds from Local-ty LV has been given to the Las Vegas Victims Fund.
Local-ty LV’s Las Vegas T-shirts start at $28, sweatshirts at $38, beanies and hats at $24, and all pieces come in a variety of designs and colors that set this local apparel apart from the Vegas tourist iconography. The first and most popular design is Love LV (see the photo above), which comes in a variety of colors. There are even special collections for hometown institutions like the Vegas Golden Knights gold on black and Runnin’ Rebel cardinal red on grey color schemes.
