When did funny coffee mugs become a trend? I don’t know, but I love it. I own a few myself.
It makes sense. Our American culture loves coffee. And, we love humor. Why wouldn’t funny coffee mugs be a thing we treasure?
You say some of the funniest shit on your podcast. This should be on a coffee mug.
When Desiree heard that feedback from a friend, she knew it was time to start a product line to complement her podcast.
How it began
But, let’s start at the beginning. As mentioned before, Desi has a podcast under the same name. Initially, she went through a series of trials and experiments that never felt like the right fit.
“I was forcing myself to fit in a box that just wasn’t working,” recalls Desiree, adding, “It first started as a podcast then the line of snarky, ‘sweary’ coffee mugs was born from both my obsession with coffee and my love of swear words.”
I mean, what woman doesn’t have a love for both coffee and cussing? Heck, that’s everyone I know!
“The Slightly Unfiltered woman is unapologetic about who she is and who she’s becoming. She’s struggled with being told she’s too much yet often felt like she was never enough,” Desi says. “Through the years and life’s lessons, she’s developed a sense of confidence in her voice and she knows what she wants for herself. She’s definitely not afraid to drop a few f-bombs and give her honest opinion.”
See? Doesn’t that sound just like you? Just like me?
Like any creative entrepreneur, Desiree gets her inspiration from interacting with others. In fact, it was during a group coaching call that Desi got the idea for her brand name.
“In the middle of describing myself, I said, ‘I like to swear but I’m not completely unfiltered. I’m only slightly unfiltered,'” she explains. “Everyone’s eyes lit up and I gasped. I knew Slightly Unfiltered was the epitome of my personal brand.”
