Fall 2017 Dress Trends

ShareTweet

With fall just around the corner, now is a great time to do a quick roundup of up and coming fashion trends—specifically, dresses. Based on what’s been seen at recent fashion shows, there is a lot going on at the moment. You can expect to see a bit of a change when it comes to the type of dresses you are likely to be wearing in the coming few months. Here’s what you need to know about fall dress trends:

A Fresh Color Palette
Last fall, the color palette was quite muted. This year, you can expect to see more bold and bright dresses in stores. In all likelihood blue will dominate, this fall, but you can also expect to see russet colored items of clothing making an appearance too.

Floral Patterns
You should still be able to find simple, solid-hued dresses, if that is what you like wearing. However, a lot of designers have decided to use floral motifs in their designs. These range from tiny flowers to bright and bold print dresses. This style of dress would look good worn with a smart jacket, which makes it a good choice if you work in an office.

Floaty Cuts
The summer trend of A-line and floaty cuts looks set to continue into the fall. Smock dresses are a big part of this trend. This fun cut is very flattering, especially for the average US woman, who is a size 16.

Maxi Dresses
It is nice to see that maxi dresses are set to still be popular. These dresses are ultra feminine and quite glamorous.

Something Sparkly
Usually, the fall means family get-togethers and parties, so you can expect to see a lot of sparkly dresses appearing in the shops over the coming few weeks. Shimmering silver, grey and light gold fabrics are being turned into all kinds of apparel, including dresses.

Lace and Embellished Dresses
For those of you who do not like wearing very shiny fabrics, a lace or embellished dress is a good alternative. They are especially nice in a maxi or
sheath cut.

Fringing
There are some lovely textures being used by designers, this fall. One of the biggest trends on the catwalks is the use of fringing on dresses. Some designers have simply added a fringe to the sleeves and hems of their dresses. But, others like Michael Kors and Prabal Gurung have used them more
extensively. The fringing is very fine, which makes it look almost like feathers when you move. This style of fringing is very striking, yet very delicate and feminine.

Little Black Dresses (LBD)
The one style of dress that never goes out of fashion is the LBD. As you would expect, most retailers have included them in their fall collections. Styling varies, with some stores mainly selling skater and ruffle dresses. While others have decided to offer more straight cuts like tunic and sheath
style dresses.

More Trends
If you would like to find out a bit more about the trends for fall, you can do so here. As you will see, there is plenty of variation, which should make it easy for you to find dresses that you will enjoy wearing.

The dress under ‘Something Sparkly’ is amazing and it fits to my summer collection perfectly. I didn’t find it in simplybe shop, is there a link to it?

It is a great dress, but unfortunately, I don’t have a link to it. I would use Google to search for ‘chevron sequin dress’ or ‘chevron paillette dress.’ Good luck!
