I write about it every year—the $1 Earth Day sale at Buffalo Exchange. It’s the kind of sale that makes it worth getting up early, standing in line, and digging through piles of resale fashion. It’s also a great opportunity to get into the spirit of Earth Day and make a contribution. The Buffalo Exchange Earth Day $1 Sale happens April 21st at stores nationwide (excluding outlets).
All proceeds from the sale of $1 clothing will go to 5 Gyres in support of their efforts to research ocean plastic pollution and engage communities in responsible use, design and disposal of plastic materials. The sale is cash only and $1 items go quickly. Get there early. Bring plenty of dollar bills and your own reusable shopping bag.
“We’re excited to support an environmental initiative that we feel strongly about,” says Buffalo Exchange Vice President Rebecca Block. “We started our Tokens for Bags program back in 1994 as a way to reduce plastic use, so we’re glad to be teaming up with 5 Gyres, an organization doing great work in the area of reducing ocean plastic pollution.”
In Las Vegas, shop Buffalo Exchange at 1209 South Main Street in the Arts District. Yes, Project NEON is creating some traffic and parking challenges in the area, but this sale is well worth the obstacle course. Again, get there early to nab your nearby parking and prepare to walk a block or two. Wear comfy shoes.
