One of the best things you can do for yourself is to drink water. It’s good for your immune system, teeth and breath, skin and hair, weight management, and even your mental health. Yet, despite all of the obvious benefits of drinking water, most people would rather sip coffee, wine, or soda before having a glass of water.
It makes sense, really. Compared to coffee, wine, or soda, water isn’t quite as satisfying, is it? However, it can be. You just need to find the right methods for tricking yourself into enjoying it, and you’ll soon find yourself drinking water more than before. Here are some ideas.
Add Fruit, Cucumber, and Mint

The most common way I trick myself into drinking water is by adding lemon, cucumber, and mint to it. Sometimes it’s lemon, frozen strawberries, and mint. Sometimes it’s just lemon or just mint. At any rate, adding some yummy produce can not only make my water look and smell prettier, it tastes good, too! And for some reason, I also find it very relaxing.
Add Drip Drop
I’ve talked about Drip Drop before as a hangover cure, but the product actually tastes pretty damn good, too, like a flavored drink mix. Sometimes, I feel like plain, old water isn’t hydrating enough, especially since I live in the desert. Adding Drip Drop gives me the adequate hydration I need.
Add Coconut Water
I don’t know why, but unless I’m hungover (Do you sense a pattern in my life, here?), I don’t really like to drink coconut water straight by itself. I like to dilute it at about 50/50 ratio with regular water. Sometimes I add fresh lime juice, and it improves the overall experience of drinking water.
Filter It

If your water tastes like shit, naturally, you’re not going to want to drink it. Filtering water can improve its taste, which encourages you to drink more of it. I love my Zero Water pitcher, but considering I live alone and don’t have children to hydrate, that’s enough for me. You might find yourself needing a system installed in your home. If you hate the taste of your tap water, filter it.
Make It Fizz
If you’re a big soda drinker, maybe what you need is fizzy water. A SodaStream machine will make your water sparkle. You can even add flavorings so you get that soda-like sensation.
Make a Mocktail

What’s a mocktail? It’s a fake cocktail. It looks like a fancy, fruity cocktail, but it doesn’t contain an ounce of alcohol. The mocktail above is made from water, mango, cucumber, and frozen strawberries with a Tajin and sugar rim. I can drink a load of these on a Friday night while binging Valeria. I feel like I’m being a sassy, single lady, and I am; but I’m also just being hella healthy by drinking water.
No more excuses, okay? Put a little more effort into how you’re drinking water, and you’ll soon find yourself drinking more, enjoying it, and reaping the benefits.
