This past summer, I went to an awesome clothing swap party, and now this fall, I got to attend another. I’m maintaining my new post-divorce weight loss and decreased dress size. And I’m in dire need of a new wardrobe. But spending a lot of money recreating one just isn’t an option for me. So when I got the chance to attend yet another clothing swap party, I jumped on it!
This time the party was hosted by my good friend Natasha, whom I used to work with at Zappos. I knew her list of attendees would include a Zappos clan. And being personally familiar with the company’s 40% employee discount and the shopping addiction that comes with working there, I knew there would be some really good stuff up for grabs. I was right. Here’s what I got at Natasha’s clothing swap party.
I also scored some workout shirts, a few more blouses, and a cute chunky, wool-knit beret. Clothing swap parties rock! It allows women to dress one another, compliment one another (we all model what we nab), and bond. When you combine socializing with fashion and a few yummy cocktails, the only thing that can happen is fun.
So whether you want to purge last winter’s wear, or prep for some spring cleaning, consider hosting or attending a clothing swap party. Clean out your closets, add to your wardrobe, and make some new friends. Plus, anything left over should be donated to a women’s shelter or any charity of your choice. In the end you’re recycling and providing for your community. And the fact that you’re treating yourself to something that’s new to you is also a perk!
