2012 Celebrity Wedding Fashion Fever

ShareTweet

If you thought 2011 was a hot year for celebrity weddings – it did give us Wills and Kate, Kate Moss and Kim Kardashian’s (short-lived) nuptials after all – then brace yourselves for the full-on celeb wedding onslaught that is 2012!

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, Sienna Miller and Tom Sturridge, Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford, Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson are all set to tie the knot this year, not to mention the much anticipated wedding number two for Britney.

So what will these A-list brides be wearing? We’ve taken a look at the hottest trends from the latest NY Bridal Fashion Week catwalks to give you the lowdown on what gorgeous gowns and bridesmaid dress trends we can expect to see at the celeb-studded wedding ceremonies this year.

Lace
Lace is a major trend for 2012 bridalwear. The fairytale wedding of Will and Kate, and Kate’s jawdroppingly gorgeous lace Sarah Burton creation, seems to have inspired the designer wedding collections for this year. If you’re looking to inject a little royal wedding glamour into your own wedding celebration this year, but can’t afford a signature McQueen dress-to-die-for, this chic, lace and ladylike number from Coast bridesmaid dresses collection is a little more wallet-friendly…

Nude and….Black?
When it comes to wedding trendsetters, nobody does it like Vera Wang. Having dressed more loved-up A-listers than any other designer, her latest brides and bridesmaid dress collection in New York had chins wagging throughout the fashion world, as something was missing – white. Traditional bridal white hues were completely denounced by Vera, who showcased a jawdropping collection of gothic black gowns, lightening things up just a touch with ethereal nudes. We love this bold new wedding look, but we’re not sure which celebrity brides would be brave enough to pull this off – what do you think?

Light as a Feather
2012 fashion in general has a real sheer trend going on, and the latest bridal catwalk looks tended towards this same kind of ethereal aesthetic. Skirts were fuller than ever, but created using the lightest of featherweight fabrics, with lots of layering of translucent, transparent fabrics that had the catwalk models looking as if they were floating on air. So, if Reem Acra, Monica Lhuillier and Amsale are anything to go by (and they are), lashings of heavyweight fabrics are out, and light as a feather silhouettes are in. It’s a look that’s perfect for petite frames, so our money’s on Sienna and Carey adopting this look into their wedding look.
