Fashion DOES exist in Las Vegas, and one of the reasons why is because the community of fashion designers, photographers, stylists and makeup artists who live here in Vegas stick together, network and help each other out.
Susan Tosches-Deneau of Altered Nation Designs is one such member of the Vegas couture community. She creates one-of-a-kind fashion, accessories, art and gifts, utilizing reclaimed materials to create unique pieces. And she founded the Couture Community Challenge, a networking fashion group which consists of many local designers, models, photographers, makeup artists and hair stylists who together work to keep fashion alive and well in Las Vegas by challenging their own talents, all the while raising money for nonprofits and charities. Also part of the Vegas style scene is photographer Nicole Mehrman, a rising talent who photographed Tosches-Deneau’s most recent work. (See the photos below.)
A week and a half ago, the Couture Community Challenge presented an Independence Couture themed fashion show at my new favorite thrift store Dinosaurs & Roses and benefiting DefendingFreedom.org. Below are a few photos from the event. Hopefully they will help to inspire you to always celebrate and appreciate independent thought and creativity as well as our freedom to express ourselves and unleash our power through innovation. Happy 4th of July!
